To Boutique or not to Boutique…. that is the question?

To Boutique or not to Boutique….That is the question?

Who doesn’t love a stay at a fabulous hotel? One with unique décor, amazing staff, and amenities.  If executed right it can make a trip.  Lately, I have noticed Boutique hotels popping up all over and in areas that showcase small towns and communities. My work travels take me from Memphis, all through the great state of Mississippi, and down to New Orleans. Along the way, I have discovered dozens of fabulously unique and insanely decorated Boutique hotels.  Many are locally owned so they have the local flavor and history in all the details.  We all know it's the DETAILS that set anything apart.

Taking long trips to far away destinations isn’t always practical. But a long weekend or taking a couple of days to pop into closer destinations is doable. Even a staycation can offer some much-needed respite to recharge your batteries.

The Memphian, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, is located in Overton Square in Memphis, TN. Every detail is designed to perfection. I’m thrilled when designers break away from typical commercial finishes and add spice! The Memphian represents everything I love about Boutique hotels. The lobby is quirky with a sense of humor but is still elegant enough that you might not realize the chandelier is made of fishing lures. The color palette and use of layering patterns and textures is executed so well that you will find yourself wanting to lounge in the lobby to experience every single detail.

For dining downstairs the Memphian offers the Complicated Pilgrim. The perfect spot to grab coffee to start your day or a cocktail to finish it off. It too is designed with details that stand out down to the quirky cocktail napkins.

The crown jewel of the Memphian is the rooftop bar, The Tiger and Peacock.  A visit to the Tiger and Peacock is a must even if just a peep of the interior.  Be mindful reservations are a MUST, without exception. Whether an afternoon cocktail, sunset martini, or nightcap to finish your evening DO NOT miss the Tiger and Peacock. Don’t worry if you’re a party of one because the staff will make you feel like a lifelong friend. The bartenders Cannon and Antonio will make the perfect libation while entertaining you with their humor.  You may mistake the cocktail waitress Erika for a runway model, but she flashes the most pleasant smile.  Upon entering, you will be greeted by the most magnificent view of the city of Memphis.  While enjoying this view, you will be surrounded by the most magnificent  interior which is OH MY GHAH FABULOUS. The use of color and texture is perfect.  A full-size taxidermy Zebra greets you at the bar next to the elegant full size Peacock.  Don’t miss the champagne room which is a perfect place to have a girls night or celebration with the perfect pattern and layers of pink.  The use of Layering of colors and texture, and out of the box design makes this a 5 star location.

Good news, many of the Boutique hotels are affiliated with reward programs. The Memphian, a Tribute Portfolio property, is no exception and is affiliated with Marriott.  One of our favorite perks is Mr. Beauregard, Pearly Peacock Design’s mascot, is welcome.

Thank you, Micajah Sturdivant, for assembling the team that brought the Memphian to life. Every detail is executed to perfection.   Your sales director, Bobbie Peppers,  sure made Pearly Peacock Design’s stay a pleasant one.  Kudos to the brains behind the design, it is one that is close to my heart. I felt right at home. Click here and book a stay The Memphian Hotel

Cheers and the answer to the questions is TO BOUTIQUE!!
