Tracey Mose Believes in You

You may remember a recent post about New Orleans based artist Tony Mose, however, his fabulous wife, Tracey, is also a talented artist in her own right.

Tracey’s work centers around her love for typography; she loves the look of words on a page. Furthermore, Tracey loves emojis and their ability to quickly communicate meaning. Tracey’s work does the same. Her studio is filled with large canvas pieces with repetitive words/phrases, as well as grand mirrors with figures that have text spray painted over them. These works are meant to inspire, to energize. Everytime you see her pieces, you know that Tracey Mose believes in you.

In the beginning, Tracey primarily focused on her jewelry design, which is another avenue in which she expresses her immense creativity. As time went on, Tracey began to experiment with digital work such as collages, and painted over top of the media. Now, Tracey’s creative expression is on full-force. Her jewelry collections this year mirror the fun, positive energy she displays in her work. The world around Tracey inspires her work entirely. As we sat down last time I saw her in New Orleans, she shared that her love for text can be traced back to her first concert (Bruce Springsteen!) in the 80s, where she wore a yellow newspaper-print skirt; she just loved it.

In my book, Tracey and Tony embody what it means to be artists, never failing to jump at an opportunity to create something great. Tracey, primarily working from her own repertoire of photography, tries to evoke inspiration from her past experiences in her work. On the other hand, Tony primarily is inspired by the present, and the day-to-day changes in his environment are apparent in his artwork. In short, these two are simply inspiring and their creativity feeds off of eachother, even though their artistic styles are totally different. Esom Gallery is their perfect union, so much love and positivity; you just want to be around them– this is why their artwork is such a treasure to add to your collection.
